What kind of game is it?

A personal website stopped updating on July 12, 2003. Beneath its nostalgic links and message boards are diaries and files someone left behind. This single-player exploration game asks you to read carefully, observe your surroundings and connect clues.

Empty spaces reminiscent of the Backrooms, rooms with the same number and a stopped clock: the annex's strange scenery connects to the website's story.

How to play, without spoilers

  1. Choose Start exploring, then tap links and objects that catch your attention.
  2. Use Source and Files to inspect a page or your inventory. Number keys and word tiles let you answer puzzles by tapping.
  3. Read clues and follow them to other pages. The annex has an investigation notebook and optional hints.

Take your time. A wrong answer in the annex keeps your completed investigation, so you can inspect the same place and try again.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to play?

Yes. The game is free and displays advertisements. No app installation or account registration is required.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes. The main puzzle route and annex investigation work with taps in a smartphone browser. Text selection and keyboard input are optional. You can also play on a computer.

Can I resume later?

Progress saves automatically and can be resumed in the same browser. When a connection is unavailable, it saves locally. Clearing browser data or using private browsing may lose your progress.

Is it a horror game?

It includes unsettling empty rooms, repeating corridors and unexpected messages. The game plays audio, so adjust your volume before exploring.

Is this an actual website from 2003?

No. This is a work of fiction inspired by personal websites and internet culture of the early 2000s, rather than an archive of a real site.

Is the whole game in English?

The entry page and controls have an English version. Some in-game story text and notes remain in Japanese.
